Best Home Coffee Grinders 2025

Today we will go through our 2025 picks for best home coffee grinders for home and consumer usage. We will go through our top picks that produce top quality coffee for espresso and filter, as well as a quick overview of each grinder and how they compare to others, and briefly explain the importance of grind size and coffee microns when it comes to brewing excellent coffee at home or in the workplace.

So let’s get started

1Zpresso J-Ultra

If we’re going to talk about the best for espresso, when it comes to portability, single dosing the 1Zpresso J-Ultra produces some of the best quality grounds on the planet, boasting 8 microns per click and that is pretty insane for a manual grinder.

Some electric grinders don’t even produce that many microns per adjustment, so 1Zpresso has done something special here. And with the easy to adjust exterior burr adjustment, unlike most hand grinders on the market that have to be partially taken apart to adjust the grind size, the 1ZPresso J Ultra has the adjustment on the outside.

Also featuring a black titanium coated heptagonal 48mm conical burr which pumps out any desired grind size with absolute ease. Definitely one of the best manual espresso grinders on the market today. I highly recommend you check it out. We will be sure to do an in-depth review of this killer of a grinder very soon!

Commandante C40 MK4

Probably my favourite on this list, and probably one of the most well know grinders in the world of speciality coffee is the Commandante C40. Commandante state that their concept is making coffee from scratch and taking it to a whole new level.

With high nitrogen stainless steel burrs and double axel bearings, the particle uniformity is top notch down to the last micron. From fine espresso to Turkish coffee, pour over and even as coarse as French press and cold brew, the patented burrset is an incredible design that brings spectacular results.

The commandante is robust, feels great in the hand when cranking the handle and produces a great grinding experience.

I use a Commandante C40 Mk4 as my personal grinder. I find it consistent in quality. Pour-over is my preferred brewing choice, and it never disappoints. The grinder produces smooth, even, and distributed grounds that are perfect for any recipe. Again, I will be doing an in-depth review of this amazing grinder very soon, so be sure to look out for it soon.

Niche Duo

Now, let’s get on to a very desired home espresso grinder, the Niche Duo.

The Niche Duo is one of many best home espresso grinders in today’s market. With its predecessor the Niche Zero, Niche have listened carefully to their consumers and have delivered an even better grinding experience. With a flat burrset that you can have the option of either espresso or filter burrsets or both for an extra fee, the niche duo features outstanding single dosing capabilities with 83mm flat burrs.

Its design enables simple workflow, precision grinding, zero retention, and aesthetically appealing oak accents that make this grinder look beautiful on your home coffee set up. The Niche Duo allows stepless adjustment so you can fine tune your grind size with the upmost accuracy, allowing you to push out the best extractions and enhancing the flavour of your coffee. A very thought out design and I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a beautiful home coffee grinder that doesn’t take up too much space on the counter.

DF64

Similar to the Niche Duo, the DF64 single dose grinder is another budget-friendly home grinder we believe deserves to be on this list. A single dose grinding system with zero retention grinding capabilities. The DF64 features 64mm flat burrs, and a vast amount of grind adjustment settings from espresso to pour over. It is the perfect all-rounder for any coffee lover that cares about high quality coffee without breaking the bank unnecessarily.

As we all know, there are plenty of over priced coffee grinders that produce the same quality as something slightly cheaper. We at Caretta Coffee think this is a very valuable investment when it comes to single dosing in your kitchen or if you’re lucky enough to have your own coffee corner in your house, the DF64 delivers simple, easy-to-use functions and outstanding grinding quality. A full in depth review of this grinder will be on our website very soon.

Eureka Mignon Specialita

Now let’s get onto the Eureka Mignon Specialita. If you’re like many and like to dial in one bag of coffee in batches at a time, have a couple of coffees before you start your day, or like to buy bigger bags (say kilos) of coffee from your favourite local coffee roaster, and want something that screams quality and has the ability to grind multiple doses consecutively and quickly just like a café would, the Eureka Mignon Specialita is for you.

One of my personal favourites too, this was my personal grinder a few years ago when I also had my rocket espresso R Cinquantotto, and boy it did not disappoint! The grinder is easy to use, adjust, clean and fits nice and elegantly on the counter top. It features an intuitive touch screen display, 55mm hardened steel burrs, a hopper capacity of 300g and silent grind technology. Producing outstanding quality grounds, the eureka mignon specialita is very impressive and consistent for the home coffee enthusiast and will definitely be something you won’t regret buying to up your coffee game.

Pietro Manual Flat Burr Grinder

The Pietro Manual hand grinder is designed elegantly and with purpose to produce the best quality coffee grounds at an affordable price, comparing to commercial grade coffee grinders, without compromising quality. With a game-changing design, Pietro has created a ‘grinder in the hand’ grinding coffee scene with its vertically mounted 58mm flat burr set!

Pietro offers an airtight grind chamber, with a capacity of 60g, and two types of burr, giving you the flexibility whatever your brew method.

The B-Modal Burrs offer a bi-modal grind distribution creating an espresso focused grind profile. And the M-Modal burrs are designed to provide a unimodal grind distribution which is great as a all-rounder type grinder from espresso, to aeropress, to pour over. Pietro also offers a wide range of 6 colour choices which is also a great take on design, compared to a lot of other brands who only supply a basic black or white colour option.

We will be sure to definitely do an in-depth review of the Pietro hand grinder very soon.
