Third place will be awarded to the semi-finalist with the higher score from the two competitors who do not progress to the final.

The Competition Coffee

This year’s competition coffee is an exceptional Thermal Shock SL28 produced by Edinson Argote at Quebraditas Farm, Huila, Colombia.

Every competitor will brew the same coffee, allowing the focus to be on one thing: who can brew the best cup.

Practice Coffee

You’ll receive 200g of the competition coffee approximately 15 days before the event (rested and perfect to brew) (from 15th October so you have plenty of time to dial in your recipe and prepare for the competition.

Competition Rules

You have complete freedom to brew using whichever dripper and brewing method you feel most comfortable with.

You’re welcome to bring your own equipment, including:

  • Drippers
  • Kettles
  • Filters
  • Brewing accessories

The format is similar to an SCA Brewers Cup, with one key difference: every competitor uses the same coffee, creating a level playing field where brewing skill makes all the difference.

  • Comandante C40 hand grinders
  • Kettles
  • A selection of drippers

We’ll also provide ZeroWater Jug along with Apax Lab minerals for anyone wishing to experiment with their water composition.

Prizes

Every competitor’s entry fee will be added to the winner’s prize pot.

In addition, we’ll have some incredible prizes generously provided by our sponsors:

FAQ

> WHEN WILL MY COFFEE BE ROASTED?

All our coffees are roasted to order. we roast and ship on the same day or within 48 hours of order.

You’ll find the exact roast date printed on the box.

> HOW IS BEST TO BREW MY COFFEE?

Each and every coffee brews differently and requires certain tweaks to make perfect, but we have our recommended brew guide in the coffee overview section to help you out with a recipe to get you started. If you're struggling, please reach out to us at: hello@carettacoffee.com and we'll be glad to help you out. As we roast light, we recommend going much finer on espresso - but just play around with the brews and enjoy the process.

> HOW LONG SHOULD I REST MY COFFEE?

We recommend resting the coffee for at least 2 weeks from roast date to allow the coffee to degas and open up its true flavour. For our coffees, we roast our coffees light, so to get the best possible flavour experience we recommend 2-3 weeks of resting.

> HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?
