Country of Origin: Brasil

Variety: Red Catuai

Process: Natural

Altitude: 800 - 1,100 masl

Producer: Andrea Costa

Flavour Profile: Plum Jam, Chocolate Orange, Toffee, Cashew

One of our favourite Brazilian naturals we've had in a while. This Red Catuai lot from Andrea Costa is rich and chocolatey, layered with nutty depth, lifted by a plum-jam sweetness and a nice creamy cashew finish.

The result is a sweet, well rounded cup with excellent body and lively acidity—beautiful on both filter and espresso.

In the cup we're tasting: chocolate orange, toffee, plum jam and creamy cashew.

THE PRODUCER

Chácara Santo Antônio has been part of Brazil’s coffee story for well over a century. First planted in the 1880s, the farm passed into the hands of Andrea Costa’s parents in the 1960s and is now run by Andrea together with her brother Luis. Nestled in the Mogiana region on the volcanic soils outside Espírito Santo do Pinhal, the farm sits at 800–1,100 masl and combines coffee fields with dense forests and freshwater ponds. These varied landscapes create natural microclimates that suit different varietals, from Red Catuai to Mundo Novo and Arara.
